VetSummer Animal Camp DCTrinity Washington University

Our program is for students who love animals and want to know more, especially if students are considering a career in medicine or veterinary medicine.

Experience life on a major college campus, hang with your roommate, and try on a new future now.

This is a great campus to spend a week!  Lots of on campus facilities and residence halls to enjoy, prime location to nature centers and downtown Washington DC.  Visit a nature center, meet animals, or just lounge in the quad after class.  It is the culture and the community we create that makes this program so powerful and effective.

OUR OWN Residence Hall

We have our own residence hall this summer, shared just with our sister program Summer Culinary!  We get to crteate the most wonderful community and the space is just for us.  The residence hall is air-conditioned and comes with all the amenities available to the college kids during the year.  For many of our students, it is the time in the dorm that really defines their experience at the animal camp.  This is a great way to get a feel for what college will be like! Check out the campus and more info HERE.

OUR OWN SCIENCE LABS

We are basing all of our cvlassroom activities in the science labs in the new, modern Payden Hall.  The inspiring and future-forward context of the academic hall allows us to really focus our students and get amazing amounts of work done on a daily basis.

CLASSROOMS: SCIENCE LABS IN PAYDEN HALL

Great places to learn!

We will be studying and working in the same science labs as the college students do during the year!  Payden Hall is extraordinary, with lots of brand-new equipment.  The environment on campus and in the labs in particular is so inspiring!  We cannot wait to get started!  We are committed to an extraordinary classroom experience that allows for hands-on learning with talented, trained instructors and a proprietary curriculum designed to jump-start your knowledge of animals.

The pictures below are the actual labs we will be using this summer!

NATURE CENTER & FUN TRIPS: MEET ANIMALS

Off-campus and in-person

This summer we will be visiting the fantastic Poplar Springs Animal Sanctuary. This enterprise offers care, rehabilitation, and permanent sanctuary for neglected, abused or abandoned farm animals, as well as providing a protected habitat for wildlife.  They promote compassion and the humane treatment of all animals by educating the public on farm animal and wildlife issues, with more than 200 animals of every kind.  We will get the chance to meet the staff, find out about their jobs, career path, and meet as many of their animals as we can!  This is going to be amazing and we are very grateful for this opportunity.  Read more about them HERE.

DINING HALL

Fresh, savory, and many options

Residential students eat all their on-campus meals in the dining halls and the day students join us for lunch. These bright sparkling dining halls are serving fresh, hot food, often to order, and with clear vegetarian and vegan options at all meals. Food allergies can be handled with notice; eat local and enjoy the yumminess!

RESIDENCE HALL: PRIVATE AND PERFECT

We share our residence hall only with our sister program, so we control every aspect of the space including the social spaces and lounges.s

Residential students all live in doubles and triples.  Each room comes with a bed, desk, dresser and of course the entire building is air-conditioned.  There is a big fun lounge including a fun sunken living room style zone that will be perfect for our talent show!

Roommates are assigned by age and gender; during the registration process we ask questions to help the Program Directors pick just the right roommate for each student.  Staff, including the Health Director, live in the dorm to provide 24/7 support, supervision and access.

EVENINGS ON CAMPUS & THROUGHOUT WASHINGTON DC

Explore, discover or just chill

On some evenings we will take excursions from campus into DC to explore and discover what is available to us!  With a metro stop just off campus, we can zip wherever we might want to go!  That being said, experience tells us some nights the students will just want to hang out in the dorms and chill!
